Bug Symphony

I was singing in the symphony of insects
Dissecting entomology
While entering an interstate
Of effervescent tones
I was a tiny parasite living life
On the backs of Saul the scientist
Insisting that he couldn’t leave my friends alone
I will persist to press my teeth
Into the deepest niches that I can explore
Until you take the scalpel off of my thorax,
I will sing on the highest risers till you can’t ignore
The sound of the symphony
I couldn’t take it anymore
You were just asking for a war
When you fastened my father to your board
It takes a while to compile all the necessary files
To make an orchestra from scores and scores of swarms
Under the cover of night
I will bite into the right side of your spine
And from a hair in your neckline
I will design a baton to keep the symphony in time
I will conduct from the edge of your eyes
And lead a choir of spiders, tiger beetles and carpenter flies
Into a whirr of a drone rising like a cyclone
Into the grotto of your mutilated mind
Will rush the sound of the symphony
Carry on with the composition
Sit and listen Give up all your
Inhibition keeping you
From joining in the horde
You have a beautiful buzz
Let it rub upon my ear drum
Tightened and tuned into the frequency of you and your proboscis
I will persist to press my teeth
Into the deepest niches that I can explore
Until you take the scalpel off of my thorax,
I will sing on the highest risers till you can’t ignore
The sound of the symphony
Floats in sectionality
And lands under a covering of harmony
Awakening the scientist
From visions of his violence
Towards my winged relatives
Pinned neatly to his walls
Lingering in the vestibules
The avid and terrestrial
Caverns of his educated mind
He is redeemed by the scene
Rubs his scales off of his dreams
The wall takes flight with colored wings
And the scientist insists this time to sing
Sing with me now
Sing all about entomology
Sing, no let’s shout, Entomology!

Ladybug
07:07

You died two years from the day you were born
Survived the winter time, the highways kept you warm
Used up a thorough life in and out of thoroughfares
Your summer home was a blade of grass beneath a folding chair
Nature denied you the aphids I provided
March, April and May came and went
I tried my best to keep you fed and at rest
When your wings were torn from their seams I held you and healed you at my breast
Maybe I’m in love with the ladybugs
Missing and alone and out of luck
August nights in fortunate flight with love
He was taken away from you by a mantis’ jaws
Mountains taunted you with their eyes as they counted your spots
Locked inside of a jar for half-a-month
It hurts my heart to see your luck run out this way
Deep, earthy soil covered your skin so tenderly
After all of the ashes cooled, your dots had burnt away
My tears fell and froze to the roads, Western Washington was afraid
Chorus
Ladybug, Ladybug fly away home
Your house is on fire your children are gone
All except for one, her name is Florae
She hid herself beneath a honey tree

The Hive

They danced all night on the rooftop of the hive
Their steps spoke out to the hungry creatures living underground
They said come up here dance away the years
On the ceiling of the honeycomb
I gave in, let my mind go, danced up to the honey tree
Into the hearts of friendly bees
The hive was made by honeybees from thoughts and rocks and rotten leaves
Tucked inside the Myrtle trees while the earth remained at rest
While the earth remained at rest
We are the flies who build their homes
On top of carcasses and sun-bleached bones
And with a red-eyed sight we tear the light of day
The grasshopper was a burden of yours
Your windows failed and you shut your doors
You were a walking target covered in a holy gore
You’re an immunity in the eyes of a jealous lord
If I could eat a honeybee all those creatures would follow me
Deep into the murder trees Death would greet them coldly
Oh Death would great them so cordially
Houseflies in the garden snapped the silver cord
Tall white porcelain grinders
Kerfed the bodies for the dance they ignored
And then dust returned to the earth as it was
I’ve seen flies eat men alive
You’ll be safe with….
Honeybees took care of me, but the housefly never did
So why have we made friends with him as he flies around our dead.

Tube Within A Tube
At this my heart trembles just like the dappled sky
While the backyard houses symphonies of overused wind chimes
Umbrellas are for cowards for the foolish and the vain
I’ll get my slippery coat wet again and again
I’m just a worm I’m a tube within a tube
Coming from earth for to get a taste of you
Hopefully these colors
Will rearrange themselves
Into picture perfect sceneries
Of pots and pans and bells
Now let’s bang them all together
And throw them in the sky
Listen to the echoes keep on ringing till it's dry
I’m just a worm I’m a tube within a tube
Coming from earth for to get a taste of you
If it rained for forty days
Would I ever hear a sound?
I was hoping that the fish had seen
My lover’s body down
Or maybe footprints leading to a treasure above the ground
I’m just a worm I’m a tube within a tube
Coming from earth for to get a taste of you
It’s a foolish hope I know, but a hopeful one at least
And it’s nice to know that Noah saved the beasts
And it’s nice to know that thunder can make peace.
